This collaboration delivers a vibrant sensory experience, blending the bright, tropical punch of Riwaka and Mosaic hops with the distinctively dank and berry-forward Strata. It opens with a zesty, citrus-led brightness, supported by the creamy, rounded texture of Simpsons Golden Naked Oats. While the de Garde influence hints at a snappy, crisp structure—enhanced by Weyermann Acidulated malt—the core is firmly a modern American IPA. Expect layers of passionfruit and grapefruit alongside a resinous undertone, finishing with a balanced, clean bitterness that highlights the expressive, fruit-forward Scottish yeast profile without being overly heavy or cloying.
Appearance. Medium gold (6-8 SRM) with a slight, hop-derived haze. Pours with a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent passionfruit, grapefruit, and lime zest. A secondary layer of dank resin and mixed berries is evident. Low grainy malt sweetness with a faint, nutty oat character. Clean fermentation with very subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and zesty citrus. The mid-palate reveals a soft, grainy malt backbone with a hint of toasted oats. Hop flavors of mango and pine are dominant. Bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth, balancing the light residual sweetness. The finish is snappy and medium-dry with a lingering citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable silkiness and creaminess from the oat addition. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing snap. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth; no harshness or astringency.
