Moving Mountains is an evocative Double IPA that navigates a landscape of intense tropical aromatics. The sensory experience is led by a massive dry-hop addition of Sabro and Citra, yielding vivid notes of creamy coconut, mandarin orange, and lush stone fruit. This hop profile is further amplified by the synergetic fruit character of Cryo Pop. A base of pilsner malt and Golden Promise provides a clean, bready foundation that supports the high hopping rate without becoming heavy. Utilizing WHC Fruit Bowl yeast, the beer develops a deep, multi-layered ester profile of peach and tropical berries, culminating in a silky, smooth finish with firm bitterness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-8 SRM) with a pronounced, opaque haziness. Crowned by a moderate-sized, persistent, creamy white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with dominant hop notes of coconut, pineapple, and zesty mandarin. A supportive, grainy-sweet maltiness from the Golden Promise is present in the background, intertwined with complex fruit esters of pear and apricot from the fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus. Strong flavors of coconut and stone fruit are balanced by a soft, clean malt character. Hop bitterness is firm and moderately high, preventing the fruitiness from becoming cloying. The finish is medium-dry and smooth, with a lingering aftertaste of tropical resin and citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably silky and creamy texture provided by a high oat content. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but lacks any harshness or solvent notes.
