Making Waves is a formidable Hazy Double IPA that balances intense hop saturation with a plush, velvety mouthfeel. A soft foundation of Golden Promise, wheat, and oats provides a bready, honeyed sweetness that supports a massive hop charge. Citra Cryo and Simcoe Cryo deliver concentrated waves of bright citrus and ripe stone fruit, while Galaxy adds pungent layers of passion fruit and peach. The experience concludes with a refined resinous bite, showcasing the power of New World hops. Despite its high strength, the alcohol is well-integrated into this tropical-forward, full-bodied showcase of modern brewing intent.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (6-8 SRM). Opaque, milky haze typical of the hazy variants. Large, creamy, off-white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent tropical notes of passion fruit and peach from Galaxy and Citra Cryo. Supportive layers of orange zest, ripe apricot, and a hint of dank pine. The malt aroma is low, suggesting sweet grainy wheat and creamy, nutty oats.
Taste. Initial burst of tropical fruit juice—passion fruit, mango, and peach—transitioning to citrusy grapefruit. The Golden Promise malt provides a soft, bready backbone. Moderate bitterness is present but smoothed by the high protein content, leading to a lingering, resinous, and slightly sweet-citrus finish with minimal harshness.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a distinctively creamy, pillowy texture from the oats and wheat. Moderate carbonation. Notable but smooth alcohol warmth that remains well-integrated.
