This Double IPA from Foam Brewers presents a vibrant tropical profile, characterized by an intense focus on ripe fruit. Dominant notes of fresh pineapple and succulent mango drive the sensory experience, echoing the smoothie-like character intended by the brewer. While it maintains the powerful hop presence expected of the style, the bitterness is masterfully integrated, allowing the lush fruit esters and hop-derived tropicality to take center stage. A supportive, clean malt backbone provides just enough structure for the 8% alcohol, resulting in a bold yet remarkably drinkable ale with a smooth, velvety finish and a lingering impression of exotic fruit.
Appearance. SRM 6-8. Pours a deep gold to light orange with a significant, persistent, pillowy off-white head that leaves dense lacing. Features a characteristic heavy haze consistent with modern hazy interpretations of the style.
Aroma. High intensity with an immediate explosion of tropical fruit, specifically ripe pineapple and pulpy mango. A very low, neutral, grainy malt sweetness sits in the background, complemented by a lightly fruity fermentation profile and a hint of clean alcohol warmth.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit nectar. Intense flavors of mango and pineapple dominate the palate, supported by a soft, bready malt character. Hop bitterness is moderately high but smooth and rounded, lacking any harshness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, juice-like aftertaste and a touch of supportive sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and a soft, smoothie-like texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any harshness or hop-derived astringency.
