This vibrant Berliner Weisse presents a bright raspberry infusion that complements the style's traditional lactic tartness. Expect a sharp, clean acidity that interacts with the fresh berry notes, creating a refreshment-forward profile. The underlying grain bill of Pilsner and wheat malt provides a subtle foundation of raw bread dough and soft sourdough, characteristic of the style. High effervescence lifts the aroma, showcasing floral raspberry esters and a hint of tart lemon. Despite the slightly higher alcohol content for the style, it remains remarkably crisp and dry, delivering a sophisticated balance between fruit character and a brisk, thirst-quenching finish.
Appearance. Bright pinkish-red hue (SRM 3-6 equivalent plus fruit); large, dense, light pink head with poor retention; slightly hazy clarity.
Aroma. High intensity of sharp lactic sourness and fresh raspberries. Light doughy wheat and sourdough notes are present, with no hop aroma and a delicate floral ester profile.
Taste. Clean, strong lactic sourness dominates the initial impression, followed by juicy raspberry fruitiness. A light, grainy wheat flavor provides a subtle backbone. There is no detectable hop bitterness or flavor; the balance is strictly driven by acidity. The finish is very dry and crisp with lingering tart berry notes.
Mouthfeel. Light body with very high carbonation and a prickly, effervescent feel. Features a crisp acidity with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
