ROEG&RUIG is a revitalizing Gose that captures the essence of the North Sea coastline. This bright, refreshing ale leads with a vibrant citrus punch of zesty Lime and Lemon, perfectly complementing the style's characteristic lactic tartness. Beneath the initial citrus brightness, a unique inclusion of Seaweed from the Wadden Sea provides a sophisticated, subtle salty undertone that merges seamlessly with a touch of Sea Salt. The bready backbone of Pilsner and wheat malt provides a soft foundation for the complex interplay of saline and sour notes, resulting in a crisp, mouthwatering finish that perfectly evokes a brisk maritime breeze.
Appearance. Yellow (approximately 3-4 SRM). Unfiltered with a moderate to full haze. Features a moderate to tall white head with tight bubbles and good retention; highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominated by bright, zesty Lime and Lemon notes. Lightly bready and doughy wheat malt character is present. A clean lactic tartness is detectable, accompanied by a subtle briny, maritime aroma from the Seaweed and Sea Salt. No hop aroma.
Taste. Initial burst of tart Lime and Lemon acidity. Medium-low bready wheat malt flavor provides a light sweetness. Noticeable but restrained saltiness enhances the citrus, with a unique, subtle maritime depth from the Seaweed. Very low bitterness with no hop flavor. Fermentation is clean and acidic. The finish is bone-dry and highly refreshing with a lingering citrus and sea-spray aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, effervescent carbonation. No perceived alcohol warmth. The salt and seaweed contribute a tingly, mouthwatering quality and a slightly rounder texture, though the acidity keeps the beer feeling light and crisp.
