This Double IPA showcases a vibrant interplay of modern hops, led by a heavy-handed addition of Talus alongside Citra and Simcoe. The profile is defined by a dense canopy of pink grapefruit, ripe stone fruit, and zesty citrus, grounded by a distinct resinous pine undertone. A smooth, creamy texture carries these intense flavors across the palate, supported by a clean, restrained malt backbone. The result is a highly aromatic experience where the tropical fruit punch of the hops meets a classic coniferous bitterness, finishing with a well-integrated warmth typical of its 8% strength without losing its bright, hop-forward focus.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-10 SRM) with a persistent, moderate-sized off-white head that leaves consistent lacing. Exhibits a noticeable haze characteristic of modern interpretations, though still translucent.

Aroma. Intense hop-forward bouquet featuring prominent notes of pink grapefruit, dried rose petals, and pine from the Talus and Simcoe. Secondary layers of tropical stone fruit and zesty lemon from Citra are present over a low, neutral, grainy malt background. Fermentation is clean with a very faint, smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of citrus and resinous hop flavor. High but smooth bitterness provides structure without being harsh. The Talus delivers unique grapefruit and herbal sage notes, while Simcoe adds a sharp piney edge. The malt character is supportive and soft, providing just enough grainy sweetness to balance the hop load. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a notably soft, smooth, and creamy texture that coats the palate. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains restrained and non-solventy.

Brouwerij Floem is gevestigd in het noorden van Nederland. Op het moment worden de bieren nog gebrouwen in Groningen, maar het doel is om een eigen brouwerij/brewpub op te zetten in Appingedam. Appingedam is van oudsher een erg geschikte plek geweest voor het brouwen, en heeft darom ook een rijke geschiedenis op het gebied van bierbrouwen. Brouwerij Floem wil dit graag doorzetten, en brengt daarom verscheidene bieren uit die vooral uitgesproken en hop-forward zijn. De focus ligt daar op een goede smaak en kwaliteit.
