Floem BLAASKAAK is a bold Double IPA that centers on a lush, tropical intensity. Utilizing a base of Pale malt and oats, it creates a soft, pillowy foundation for an aggressive dry-hopping regime of Mosaic, Strata, and Citra. The interaction of these varieties, combined with the ester-forward London Ale 3 yeast, yields a vibrant sensory profile defined by ripe grapefruit, pungent passionfruit, and a distinct hint of wild strawberry. It presents a hazy and juicy character that balances high-intensity hop aromatics with a smooth, full-bodied presence, finishing with a refined bitterness that belies its substantial strength.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma with dominant notes of tropical passionfruit, zesty grapefruit, and a unique strawberry-like berry character. Supportive, low grainy-sweet malt scents are present, alongside light fruity esters from the fermentation profile.
Taste. High intensity hop flavors echoing the aroma, featuring complex layers of passionfruit, citrus, and ripe berries. The malt character is soft and supportive, providing a neutral bready backdrop. Bitterness is moderately high but remains smooth and integrated without harshness. The finish is medium-dry with a long-lasting, fruity hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, soft texture enhanced by the addition of oats. Carbonation is moderate. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
