Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA
An iconic American IPA that defines the West Coast profile with aggressive hopping and a punchy sensory character. Stunning aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, and tangerine leap from the glass, driven by a complex blend of Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, and Magnum hops. These bright citrus and tropical notes are underpinned by classic piney resin and a subtle, honey-like pale malt sweetness that provides essential balance. This brilliant golden ale delivers a firm, lingering bitterness that remains smooth, showcasing the classic floral and herbal nuances of its diverse hop bill while maintaining a crisp, refreshing, and hop-forward finish.
Appearance. Deep golden color (approximately 8 SRM) with absolute clarity. It is crowned by a creamy, white head with excellent retention and thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and tropical pineapple. Significant resinous pine and lighter floral and herbal undertones are present. A low, clean, honey-like grainy maltiness supports the hops. The fermentation profile is very clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and resinous hop flavors. Medium-high hop bitterness is assertive but well-integrated. A light, honey-like pale malt sweetness provides a supportive backbone before the beer moves into a dry, crisp finish. Flavors of pine, citrus zest, and tropical fruit linger long into the aftertaste, balanced by a clean fermentation character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its strength, and there is no perceived astringency.
