This Hazy IPA presents an indulgent, dessert-like profile, merging the juicy hallmarks of the style with the bright acidity of lemon and the velvety depth of vanilla and lactose. An opaque, straw-colored pour leads into a high-intensity bouquet where vibrant citrus zest meets a creamy, marshmallow-like sweetness. The palate is dominated by a lemon curd character, supported by a soft, bready malt backbone and a lush, rounded mouthfeel. Bitterness remains low and integrated, allowing the interplay of tropical hop esters and smooth vanilla to linger through a clean, off-dry finish that captures the sensory essence of its namesake confection.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Opaque with a hazy shine. Thick, rocky, white meringue-like head with high retention and beautiful lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Primary notes of zesty lemon and sweet vanilla bean are prominent, layered over tropical fruit hop aromas of mango and papaya. A soft, grainy, bready malt character sits in the background, complemented by a light, milky sweetness. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of lemon citrus and vanilla sweetness. High fruity hop flavor with notes of stone fruit. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is soft and non-lingering. The malt flavor is low and bready, serving as a base for the lactose-driven creaminess. The finish is smooth, off-dry, and clean with a lingering lemon-cream aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture enhanced by the lactose. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Very smooth with no astringency or harsh hop bite.
