This American IPA presents a vibrant intersection of tropical fruit and classic hop intensity. The addition of mango amplifies the natural stone fruit and candy-like notes of the El Dorado hops, while the dry-hop addition of Citra provides a sharp burst of grapefruit and lime zest. Falconer’s Flight contributes a complex layer of pine and tropical citrus, grounding the sweeter fruit elements. A lean, grainy malt base ensures the finish remains crisp and hop-forward. The result is a sensory spectrum of lush tropicality balanced by a firm, resinous bitterness that defines the style's refreshing character.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (7-9 SRM). Pours with a slight haze from the fruit addition and heavy dry-hopping. Features a medium-sized, persistent off-white head with sticky lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent aromas of fresh mango and tropical fruit dominate, supported by Citra-driven grapefruit and El Dorado’s characteristic pear and watermelon notes. Falconer’s Flight adds a touch of pine and lemon zest. Low, clean, bready maltiness stays in the background. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of juicy mango and tropical hops. Medium-high bitterness emerges quickly to balance the fruit sweetness. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with layers of citrus, melon, and resin. Malt is low and neutral, offering a grainy backbone without caramel sweetness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy, mango-tinged aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture likely enhanced by the fruit solids. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively scrub on the palate. Very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated at 6.2%. No astringency.
