FiftyFifty Brewing Co.

This luxurious Imperial Stout pours like liquid obsidian, immediately enveloping the senses in a decadent tapestry of dark chocolate and freshly pulled espresso. Born from the rich Totality base and matured in oak bourbon barrels, its aroma and flavor unfold in slow, majestic waves. Sweet vanilla and toasted coconut from the wood interlace with a gentle, warming embrace of bourbon. Subtle hints of tobacco and dark dried fruits like figs emerge on the palate, balanced by a mild hop bitterness. Viscous and velvety, it concludes with a long, comforting finish of warming alcohol and rich cocoa.

Appearance. Opaque jet black (SRM 40+) with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that displays moderate retention and leaves thick legs on the glass as it recedes, signaling its high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity; dominant aromas of dark chocolate, heavily roasted espresso, and sweet bourbon-soaked oak. Undercurrents of vanilla, toasted coconut, and dark dried fruits (prunes, figs) mingle with a prominent but smooth alcohol warmth. Hop aroma is very low to none, allowing the rich malt and wood character to dominate.

Taste. Rich and complex initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The mid-palate introduces oak barrel notes of vanilla, caramel, and coconut, supported by dark dried fruit undertones and a whisper of leafy tobacco. Hop bitterness is moderate, providing just enough structure to balance the deep, malty sweetness. Finishes moderately dry to bittersweet with a long, lingering aftertaste of roasted grains, oak, and warming bourbon.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied, chewy, and exceptionally velvety with a luscious, coating creaminess. Carbonation is low to moderate. A distinct, smooth, and comforting alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harsh or fusel heat.
