This Imperial Stout offers a luxurious, dessert-inspired experience, mimicking a classic tiramisu through layers of rich espresso coffee and decadent dark chocolate. The addition of lactose provides a creamy, silken texture that balances the intense roasted malt profile. Barrel aging in both bourbon and rum casks introduces sophisticated notes of charred oak, spicy molasses, and sweet vanilla, elevating the aromatic complexity. Deep and opaque, it delivers a harmonious blend of bittersweet cocoa and dark fruit esters, finishing with a smooth, lingering warmth. The interplay of roasted grains and spirit-soaked wood creates a velvety, full-bodied sensory journey that remains balanced despite its high intensity.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It features a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention. Due to the high alcohol and viscosity from the lactose and barrel aging, prominent legs are visible on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of freshly roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and sweet vanilla. Prominent barrel character contributes notes of caramel-heavy bourbon and spicy, molasses-like rum. Low esters of raisins and prunes are present, supported by a smooth, clean alcohol warmth and no perceptible hop aroma.

Taste. The initial impression is intensely rich and sweet, characterized by espresso, dark cocoa, and creamy lactose. Middle palate reveals charred oak and vanilla from the bourbon barrels, followed by the spicy complexity of rum. Bitterness is moderate to firm but remains subservient to the dense malt and adjunct sweetness. The finish is long and lingering, tasting of chocolate-covered coffee beans and spirit-soaked wood.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture enhanced by the lactose. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated, with no astringency despite the heavy roast.
