Fieldwork® Brewing Company Pulp

Pulp is a definitive Hazy IPA that prioritizes raw hop impact over traditional bitterness. This opaque monster utilizes a fruit-forward yeast strain to amplify the character of Citra hops, resulting in a sensory profile reminiscent of a sun-drenched citrus orchard at peak season. Aromas of over-ripe peaches and fresh-squeezed orange juice dominate the senses, while the palate is saturated with notes of Lemonhead candies, peach candy rings, and tropical mango. The absence of bittering additions and fining agents creates a lush, creamy texture that carries these intense hop flavors through a soft, juicy finish, showcasing the pure essence of the Citra hop.
Appearance. Straw to light amber (4-6 SRM) with a deep, turbid opacity that gives the beer a luminous shine. Pours with a dense, meringue-like white head that shows excellent retention and leaves thick, beautiful lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma. Distinctive Citra character provides dominant notes of fresh orange juice, lemon zest, and mango. Yeast-derived esters contribute a strong over-ripe peach character that integrates seamlessly with the tropical hop profile. Low, grainy malt presence in the background with no detectable caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of juicy fruit. High flavors of mango, peach rings, and lemon candy. Hop bitterness is low, kept in check by a soft water profile and the absence of early-boil additions. Malt is supportive, providing a light, bready foundation. The finish is off-dry and exceptionally smooth, with a lingering, juicy citrus aftertaste and no hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full and creamy body that coats the palate. Carbonation is moderate. Light, integrated alcohol warmth. Entirely smooth with no astringency or raw starch texture, providing a round, soft mouthfeel that sticks to the palate.

In 2016, Pulp originated as a sister beer to our Pulp Free Westcoast IPA; except with Pulp, we drop the bittering additions and package it without any fining agents, leaving it turbid and creamy. Using a much more fruit-focused yeast strain, this IPA kicks off complimentary esters of over-ripe peaches falling from a tree that pair perfectly with its juicy Citra hops. While none of our beers are filtered, PULP exemplifies this with the appearance of an opaque monster that adds a nice juicy mouthfeel to the beer, making it stick to the palate aggressively. The abundance of Citra hops creates an aromatic bombardment that smells like a Sunday drive through a citrus orchard in the peak of the season, with notes of fresh squeezed orange juice, Lemonhead candies, peach candy rings, and juicy sweet mango trekking from the first sniff to the last sip. Pulp delivers what we want: pure, juicy hop deliciousness in its natural form.
