Fidens Brewing Co

Take A Second captures the evolution of the American IPA, leaning into a modern West Coast aesthetic that emphasizes hop aromatics over heavy malt. This beer presents a vibrant sensory profile driven by a potent combination of Mosaic and Simcoe hops. The aroma is a bright collision of tropical blueberry, stone fruit, and dank pine, characteristic of the Mosaic and Simcoe blend. On the palate, expect a crisp, hop-forward experience where initial notes of citrus zest and passionfruit transition into a firm, clean bitterness. The lean, grainy malt base ensures the hops remain the focus, leading to a refreshing, dry finish that exemplifies the style's refreshing nature.

Appearance. Medium gold in color (approx. 7 SRM) with brilliant clarity and a medium-sized, off-white head that exhibits good persistence and fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical fruit, mixed berries, and stone fruit from the Mosaic, complemented by resinous pine and citrusy grapefruit from the Simcoe. A low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral backdrop, and the fermentation profile is exceptionally clean.

Taste. The flavor is dominated by high hop intensity, showcasing mango, passionfruit, and resinous pine. A firm, medium-high bitterness provides structure without harshness. The malt flavor is low and cracker-like, supporting the hops through to a crisp, medium-dry finish. The aftertaste is hoppy, bitter, and clean.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth texture and no astringency. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth.
