Fidens Brewing Co

Overshadow is a potent Double IPA that showcases an intense aromatic tapestry woven from Citra and Amarillo hops. The experience begins with a massive surge of ripe mango, lychee, and bright grapefruit pith, characteristic of the Citra addition. This is seamlessly complemented by Amarillo’s signature notes of sweet navel orange and a delicate floral, spicy undertone. Despite its 7.8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, supported by a soft, neutral malt presence that allows the hop saturation to take center stage. A firm but well-integrated bitterness clears the palate, leading to a dry, citrus-forward finish that lingers with resinous depth and tropical fruit esters.

Appearance. Glowing pale gold to light orange; uniformly hazy with a thick, persistent white head that leaves dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by fresh-squeezed orange, grapefruit, and tropical mango. A light floral and spicy hop character persists over a neutral, slightly grainy malt background with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of citrus zest and tropical fruit mirror the aroma. The malt is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft breadiness. Bitterness is moderately high and firm but lacks harshness, leading to a dry, crisp finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of citrus rind.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing lift, accompanied by a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
