Humble Axe is a powerful and hazy Double IPA born from a collaboration between Fidens and Humble Sea. It presents an intense tropical bouquet driven by an intricate hop blend featuring Citra, Citra Cryo, Nelson, Rakau, Riwaka, and Simcoe. The experience is defined by lush mango, white grape, and passionfruit notes that saturate the palate. Despite its staggering 12.3% ABV, the alcohol is impressively integrated, providing a smooth, warming glow rather than sharp heat. The combination of Citra and Simcoe provides a citrusy and slightly resinous depth, while the Southern Hemisphere duo of Nelson and Riwaka adds a sophisticated gooseberry and dank fruit finish.

Appearance. Pours a deep, opaque gold to light orange (5-7 SRM) with a thick, creamy, off-white head that shows excellent retention and leaves significant lacing. The beer is notably 'foggy' with a high level of haze.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of ripe mango, apricot, and passionfruit. Nelson and Riwaka contribute distinct white wine, gooseberry, and crushed grape scents. Citra Cryo adds a concentrated lime and grapefruit zest, while Simcoe offers a subtle, grounding pine resin. Low, bready malt supports the hops without interference.

Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical fruit and stone fruit flavors, specifically apricot and peach from the Rakau hops. Mid-palate reveals grapefruit, lime, and a vinous character. Bitterness is moderate but firm enough to balance the high gravity. The malt provides a soft, doughy sweetness that lingers briefly before a semi-dry, hop-saturated finish.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a pillowy, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the velvety feel. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its high strength, without any harsh astringency.
