Artisan Collider is a monumental Double IPA that showcases an extraordinary depth of Southern Hemisphere hop character. Nelson and Riwaka provide a punchy foundation of white grape, crushed gooseberry, and diesel, while the addition of Peacharine and Rakau introduces lush, saturated notes of ripe peach and apricot nectar. Enhanced by Rakau Hop Kief, the aromatic profile is incredibly intense, balanced by the subtle resinous pine of Southern Cross. Despite its 10% ABV strength, the beer maintains a clean, lean malt profile that allows the complex tropical and stone fruit flavors to dominate before finishing with a firm, integrated bitterness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Features a thick, persistent, creamy off-white head with exceptional lacing. Displays a significant, uniform haze consistent with modern, high-hopped interpretations.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma with primary notes of passionfruit, white grape, and fuzzy peach. Secondary layers of lime zest, damp pine, and a hint of peppercorn are present. Malt is neutral and supportive, suggesting light grain, while the fermentation profile is clean with a well-integrated, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. A powerful initial impression of tropical fruit salad and stone fruit. Strong flavors of peach, apricot, and gooseberry lead the palate. Bitterness is high but exceptionally smooth, lacking any harshness. Malt flavor is low, providing just enough soft, bready character to support the massive hop load. The finish is medium-dry with a long, lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky texture resulting from high hop oil saturation. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high strength, without any hop-derived astringency.
