Fermenterarna Shade is a potent Double IPA that showcases a sophisticated, modern hop profile. Built on a plush foundation of oats and wheat, it offers a signature fluffy and smooth texture. The innovative use of Peacharine and Nelson Sauvin from Freestyle Hops delivers vibrant, layered notes of ripe peaches and white wine grapes, while Citra cryo and the Krush Hyperboost addition introduce bright tropical citrus and a unique bubblegum sweetness. A subtle, resinous dankness provides a grounding balance to the intense fruit character. Despite its 8.5% strength, the beer remains remarkably approachable, emphasizing a juicy sensory experience over harsh bitterness.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale gold to light orange (SRM 6-8) with a dense, persistent white foam head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent ripe peach, gooseberry, and white grape, complemented by tropical citrus and a distinct bubblegum ester. A background of bready, grainy malt and a hint of resinous dankness are present, with a very clean, subtle alcohol warmth.
Taste. Initial hop-driven flavors of stone fruit and tropical melon are supported by a soft, bready malt character from the oats and wheat. Mid-palate reveals Nelson Sauvin-derived grape notes and a touch of sweet bubblegum. Bitterness is moderately high but remains smooth and well-integrated. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably creamy, fluffy, and silky texture. Carbonation is moderate. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present, without any hop-derived astringency or harshness.
