Fell Brewery Beck is an exceptionally light-bodied and refreshing table beer, functioning as a session-strength interpretation of a Belgian Single. Despite its 2.5% ABV, it delivers a vibrant sensory profile driven by a trio of hops: Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe. These varieties infuse the aroma with bright notes of grapefruit, mango, and pine, which meld seamlessly with the spicy, peppery phenols of a traditional Belgian yeast strain. The palate is defined by a crackery malt base and a crisp, bone-dry finish. A firm bitterness ensures a clean, snappy aftertaste, making this a nuanced yet highly drinkable monastic-style ale.
Appearance. Pale yellow (3 SRM); moderate-sized, persistent white billowy head with fine lacing; brilliant clarity.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a blend of tropical mango and citrusy grapefruit from Citra and Mosaic hops, complemented by a resinous pine note from Simcoe. Belgian yeast contributions provide a moderate spicy-phenolic character resembling black pepper, supported by a low, crackery malt backdrop.
Taste. Initial impression is very dry and crisp with a light bready malt flavor. High hop bitterness is forward and accentuated by the dry finish. Hop flavors of citrus zest and pine persist alongside spicy yeast esters. The balance is firmly toward the hops and fermentation character, leading to a clean, lingering bitter aftertaste.
