This imposing Imperial Stout delivers a surreal, escapist escape into liquid darkness. Clocking in at a potent 11.5% ABV, it envelopes the senses in a dense, velvety dreamscape of bittersweet dark chocolate, heavy espresso roast, and dark forest fruits. Lush aromas of black cherry, figs, and molasses drift over a deep, warming core of clean alcohol. Complex layers of toasted grain and tarry bitterness ground the sweet malt body, leading to a long, warming finish of charred oak and dark cocoa. It is an intense, harmonious beer that transports the drinker far from the mundane.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Crowned by a dense, persistent dark tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. Pronounced viscosity is apparent in the slow-moving legs when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity. Upfront aromas of roasted barley, bittersweet chocolate, and fresh espresso are layered with rich dark fruit esters of prune, fig, and dark cherry. Very low, earthy hop notes sit in the background alongside a noticeable but clean and smooth alcohol warmth, suggesting a vinous, port-like complexity.

Taste. Rich and intensely complex. Initial sweet dark malt, cocoa, and molasses flavors are quickly balanced by an aggressive, roasty bitterness. Mid-palate reveals layers of black licorice, dried plums, and dark bread. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering espresso bitterness, bittersweet chocolate sweetness, and a pleasant, smooth alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied, thick, chewy, and luscious on the palate. Low to moderate carbonation. A highly noticeable, velvety, and smooth alcohol warmth glows in the chest without being harsh or solventy. No significant astringency.
