Go West is a quintessential American IPA that captures the bright, resinous spirit of the West Coast style. A lean malt foundation allows an intricate hop blend of Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo, and Eclipse to dominate the sensory experience. The aroma is a vibrant collision of grapefruit zest, sticky pine, and tropical mandarin, while the use of Magnum hops ensures a clean, assertive bitterness. This gold-hued ale remains crisp and remarkably dry on the palate, delivering a punchy, hop-forward profile that finishes with a lingering, clean bitterness. It is a focused, high-intensity expression of modern hop varieties supported by a classic, neutral fermentation.
Appearance. Deep gold (8 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, off-white head that shows excellent persistence and creates fine, wispy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, and dank pine resin. Secondary layers of orange blossom and tropical fruit emerge from the Citra and Eclipse hops. The malt is low and clean, offering a light cracker-like background with no perceptible fermentation esters.
Taste. The flavor is dominated by high hop intensity, showcasing resinous pine, pithy grapefruit, and subtle mandarin orange. A firm, assertive bitterness from the Magnum hops provides a sharp, clean structural core. The malt flavor is low, characterized by neutral grainy sweetness and light toast. The finish is decidedly dry and crisp, with a long, lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, accentuating the dry finish. There is a very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
