This West Coast style American IPA delivers a punchy sensory experience, front-loading aggressive citrus and resin. The addition of grapefruit amplifies the natural citrus notes of the Citra hops, while Simcoe provides a piney, earthy backbone. Chinook contributes a signature spicy, resinous bitterness that defines the style's assertive profile. Beneath the fruit and hops, a clean, grainy malt foundation offers just enough support to prevent the 7% ABV from feeling sharp. The result is a vibrant, drying ale where the lingering zest and pithy bitterness dominate a crisp, refreshing finish.
Appearance. Medium gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 6-10 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Persistent, off-white, medium-sized head with dense, sticky lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by fresh grapefruit zest and pithy citrus. Supporting hop notes of bright lemon, resinous pine, and a touch of spicy evergreen. Low, clean, bready maltiness with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Sharp, citrus-forward initial impression with moderate-high hop flavor. High bitterness that feels pithy and clean. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with intense grapefruit, pine, and resin. Low grainy-sweet malt provides a subtle background. Dry, snappy finish with a long-lasting, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth texture. Moderate-high carbonation. Clean, light alcohol warmth. Minimal astringency despite the high hop load and fruit addition.
