This potent Russian Imperial Stout offers a deep dive into the darker spectrum of malt complexity. A dense, pitch-black pour releases intense aromas of Dutch cocoa, freshly ground coffee, and creamy mocha, derived purely from a heavy hand of roasted malts and dark caramels rather than adjuncts. On the palate, the velvety texture carries layers of bittersweet chocolate and toffee, sharpened by a distinctive touch of rye that adds a subtle, spicy grain complexity. Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Thick, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant lacing. High viscosity is evident as the beer forms legs on the sides of the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich layers of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and mocha. Prominent dark caramel and toffee sweetness. Subtle spicy notes from the rye and light dark fruit esters reminiscent of plum or raisin. Very low earthy hop aroma and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression of bittersweet cocoa and espresso. Mid-palate reveals dark caramel and toasted bread.
