This Oat-Cream American IPA defies its low gravity with a remarkably plush, velvety texture. A vivid southern hemisphere hop profile led by Nectaron and Motueka bursts with saturated notes of juicy mango and bright lime zest, while Cascade NZ provides a refreshing undercurrent of pithy pink grapefruit. Despite its modest 4.2% ABV, the beer presents a significant aromatic intensity and a creamy mouthfeel derived from the heavy use of oats. Appearance. Straw to pale gold (4-6 SRM). Pours with a dense, persistent snowy-white head that leaves thick, soapy lacing. Noticeably hazy to opaque, consistent with its oat-driven, unfiltered character.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring tropical mango, zesty lime, and fresh pink grapefruit. The malt character is low but provides a soft, bready, and slightly sweet graininess from the oats. Fermentation is clean with very light fruity esters that complement the hop profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit juice. Prominent flavors of ripe mango and lime dominate the mid-palate, supported by a citrusy grapefruit backbone. Malt flavor is low, tasting of fresh bread and cream. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, leading to a clean, slightly sweet, and soft finish without any harshness.
