This Double IPA is a vibrant sensory experience, showcasing a sophisticated hop profile led by Strata, HBC431, Mosaic cryo, and Motueka. The nose is greeted with intense aromas of ripe mango, passion fruit, and bright lime, supported by the complex tropical notes of the ‘Cryo pop’ blend. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the strength is expertly hidden behind a soft, pillowy body and a clean, neutral malt backbone. On the palate, bold layers of berry and citrus zest transition into a firm but smooth bitterness, concluding in a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes modern hop character over malt sweetness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (8-10 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma characterized by ripe tropical fruit, passion fruit from the Strata, and blueberry notes from the Mosaic. Subtle hints of lime and pine are present, backed by a very low, neutral grainy malt character and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of mango, citrus, and stone fruit dominate the initial impression. Bitterness is high but smooth and lacking harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support without significant caramel. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering tropical and resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable pillowy softness and smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 8.5% ABV without being solventy.
