This Hazy IPA is an experimental fusion that introduces a sharp acidic edge to the traditional juicy profile. Bright aromas of grapefruit and lemon zest lead the charge, followed by a lush undercurrent of tropical fruits. The New England yeast provides characteristic stone fruit esters while contributing to a rounded, silky texture that softens the intentional sourness. It is a bold, modern interpretation that emphasizes brightness, merging a sour component with a hop-forward New England character.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Deeply hazy, nearly opaque with a soft, luminous sheen. Thick, meringue-like white head with excellent persistence and fine, dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring vibrant grapefruit, lemon zest, and a cocktail of tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Subtle lactic sourness adds a bright, tangy top note. Low grainy-sweet malt presence. Esters are fruity and supportive, characteristic of New England yeast strains.
Taste. A unique interplay of moderate lactic tartness and medium hop bitterness. Pronounced flavors of citrus peel, lemon curd, and tropical fruit punch. The malt is light and bready, serving only to provide a platform for the hops and acidity. Finish is crisp and clean with a lingering citrus zest and a refreshing, tart aftertaste.
