Evoqe Brewing’s Ed Hop is a vibrant American Pale Ale that masterfully balances a modern hop profile with effortless drinkability. A triple threat of Azacca, El Dorado, and Amarillo hops drives a sensory explosion, leading with bold tropical notes of mango and pineapple alongside a bright citrus core. Subtle layers of pear, stone fruit, and delicate floral tones emerge from the juicy start, providing complexity without heaviness. This 5.3% ABV brew transitions from its initial fruity sweetness into a clean, firm bitterness that defines its structure, ensuring a refreshing, balanced finish that invites another sip.
Appearance. Pale golden color (SRM 5-7) with a slight haze. Topped by a moderately large, persistent white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a tropical and citrus explosion of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. Distinct notes of pear and stone fruit (peach) are present, complemented by a light floral character. Low grainy-sweet malt supports the hops without competing.
Taste. The palate begins with a juicy impression of tropical fruit and orange zest. Hop flavors of pear and apricot from the Azacca and El Dorado hops are prominent. Moderate to high hop bitterness provides a firm balance against a clean, neutral malt backbone. The finish is medium-dry and crisp with a lingering citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Smooth texture with no astringency. Alcohol presence is very well-integrated, providing a clean and refreshing sensation.
