Evil Twin Brewing Bozo Beer
Bozo Beer is an extravagant, decadent Imperial Stout that pushes the boundaries of the style with an immense 17.2% ABV and a dizzying array of adjuncts. The experience is defined by a dense, syrup-like viscosity layered with rich muscovado sugar, molasses, and dark chocolate. Intricate notes of roasted coffee and toasted hazelnut intertwine with the warmth of cinnamon and a subtle, creeping heat from chili peppers. Oak spirals provide a structured tannic backbone, while lactose and marshmallow lend a lush, creamy sweetness that softens the bold roasted malts. It is a massive, complex liquid dessert, where every sip reveals new dimensions of vanilla, chestnut, and almond.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). The beer pours with a thick, motor-oil viscosity, forming a small, dark mocha-colored head with limited retention. Significant legs and staining are visible on the glass due to the high alcohol and sugar content.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of roasted espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and dark fruit esters like prunes. Distinct layers of aromatic vanilla, toasted hazelnut, and spicy cinnamon dominate the foreground. A deep, vinous alcohol presence is tempered by the sweet scent of marshmallow and earthy oak.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet and roasty, featuring flavors of black coffee, molasses, and cocoa powder. The mid-palate introduces savory chestnut and almond notes, followed by a spicy cinnamon warmth and a very low, earthy chili heat. High bitterness is present but largely balanced by the massive residual sweetness from lactose and muscovado sugar. The finish is exceptionally long and coating, with lingering notes of oak and vanilla.
Mouthfeel. Extremely full-bodied and viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the beer's weight. A strong, smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout, accompanied by a slight creaminess from the lactose and a mild tannic structure from the oak spirals.
