This English Porter presents a deep mahogany, nearly opaque appearance crowned by a persistent beige foam. The complex grist, featuring Chocolate, Crystal Light, and Pale Ale malts, delivers a decadent bouquet of cocoa, toasted almond, and dark bread. A silky mouthfeel, enhanced by the inclusion of Oat and Wheat, carries flavors of roasted caramel and licorice. While traditionally styled, a firm bitterness from Columbus, Cascade, and Willamette hops provides a modern edge, introducing herbal and subtle resinous notes that balance the sweetness. It finishes with a clean, lingering roastiness, harmonizing the rich malt complexity with a refreshing, hop-forward snap.
Appearance. Dark mahogany to opaque black (SRM 30+); thick, creamy beige head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of roasted malts featuring coffee, cocoa, and black bread. Secondary notes of vanilla, toasted almond, and licorice. Moderate herbal hop character with subtle fruity esters.
