Espiga Citrus Base
This American Pale Ale presents a vibrant sensory profile defined by its intense double dry-hopping. A base of Low Colour Maris Otter provides a subtle bready foundation, while Flaked Oats and Flaked Wheat create a characteristic soft, hazy texture. The use of Citra and Mosaic cryo hops drives an explosive bouquet of lime, grapefruit, and exotic tropical notes including pineapple, mango, and passion fruit. On the palate, it is remarkably juicy, flooding the senses with citrus and herbal layers. It maintains a classic balance with a firm bitterness that leads into a clean, dry, and pleasantly refreshing finish.
Appearance. Pale golden to yellowish (5-6 SRM). Large, white, persistent head with fine lacing. Distinctive hazy clarity from the heavy dry-hopping and flaked grains.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring bright citrus, specifically lime zest and grapefruit, alongside lush tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit from Citra and Mosaic. Low, clean, bready malt supports the hops. Very low yeast esters.
Taste. Initial burst of citrus and tropical fruit flavors echoing the aroma. Moderate to firm hop bitterness provides structure against a neutral, bready malt background. The fermentation character is clean, allowing hop-derived herbal notes to emerge. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering grapefruit peel aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture from the wheat and oats. Moderate carbonation. No perceptible alcohol warmth. Smooth finish without any harsh hop astringency.
