Swiss Bliss is an opulent Imperial Stout that captures the essence of a decadent dessert. This collaboration with Short Throw Brewing Co. presents a thick, brownie-like foundation, enriched by conditioning on Rostov’s Coffee Swiss Chocolate Almond roast. The aroma is dominated by toasted nuts and cocoa, while the palate unfolds with layers of rich milk chocolate and marzipan. Almonds provide a deep, nutty complexity that melds seamlessly with a plush, velvety marshmallow finish. Despite its 11% ABV and rocky road profile, the coffee provides just enough roast to balance the viscous, indulgent body of this liquid confection.
Appearance. Opaque jet black (40 SRM). Pours with a dense, dark tan head with moderate retention and thick lacing. High viscosity is evident through prominent legs coating the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and toasted almonds. Sweet marshmallow notes provide a vanilla-like creaminess, while low dark fruit esters of prune and fig provide depth. Clean alcohol warmth is present but not sharp.
Taste. The initial impression is intensely sweet, reminiscent of a liquid brownie. Mid-palate flavors include rich Swiss chocolate and nutty almonds, balanced by a moderate coffee roast. Hop bitterness is present but perceived as mild against the high residual sweetness. The finish is lingering and sweet, characterized by creamy marshmallow and a touch of dark-roasted grain.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the beer's creamy weight. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth provides a pleasant glow without being hot.
