A collaboration between Equilibrium and Trillium, Star Light is a vibrant Double IPA built on a heavy 2-row base and adjunct grains. An intensive hopping schedule featuring Citra LUPOMAX, Mosaic, and Galaxy creates a sensory profile reminiscent of a tropical smoothie. Explosive, custard-like layers of mango and pulpy orange juice lead into waves of papaya, peach rings, and pineapple puree. Subtle accents of key lime and orange sherbet add complexity, while the signature Equilibrium finish provides a creamy rainbow melon character. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer maintains a dangerously drinkable nature, balancing high hop saturation with a soft, supportive malt backbone.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper with a prominent, opaque haze. Supports a thick, persistent off-white head that leaves dense, ornate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit. Distinct notes of mango, papaya, and pineapple are layered with pulpy orange and a hint of key lime. Low, neutral, grainy malt provides a subtle background support with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of ripe mango, peach rings, and pineapple puree dominate the palate. A moderately high bitterness is present but remains smooth and soft, lacking any harsh resinous edge. The malt character is clean and unobtrusive, allowing the tropical fruit and orange sherbet notes to shine through a medium-dry finish with a lingering melon aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, creamy, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, and there is a restrained, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Free of any hop-derived astringency.
