This collaboration Double IPA delivers a saturated sensory experience centered on the intensive use of Citra hops in several forms, including Citra Incognito and Citra LUPOMAX. A concentrated aroma of extreme mango and tropical nectar leads into an explosive palate. Flavors of mango smoothie, pulpy Grovestand Orange Juice, and a distinctive melon creamsicle note dominate, supported by a subtle, dank grassy undertone. Despite its high strength, the beer maintains a resinous yet creamy character. The specialized grain bill provides a chewy foundation that carries the high hop saturation through a lush, fruit-forward finish, epitomizing the highly technical, modern approach to the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8-9 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a dense, persistent white head and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Intensely tropical with dominant mango nectar, orange zest, and sweet melon. Background notes of resinous pine and dank herbs over a low, neutral grainy malt character.
Taste. Explosive hop flavors of mango smoothie, pulpy orange juice, and tropical fruit cup in syrup. A unique melon creamsicle note appears mid-palate. Moderately high bitterness provides structure without harshness. The finish is long and resinous with lingering citrus tang and a hint of dank grass.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, chewy body with a creamy, soft texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. No hop-derived astringency.
