Equilibrium’s Cucumber Science reimagines the German Pils as a hyper-refreshing summer experimental lager. A lean base featuring maize and pilsner malt provides a subtle, grainy sweetness that allows the Motueka hops to shine with their signature lime and tropical fruit character. Aromas of fresh-cut cucumber and vibrant limeade lead into a palate defined by a lemon-lime spritz and a distinct cucumber margarita profile. Despite the cooling botanical additions, the beer maintains its stylistic roots with a firm hop bitterness and a snappy, dry finish that emphasizes its thirst-quenching, crisp nature.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (3 SRM) with brilliant clarity and a voluminous, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity, dominated by fresh-cut cucumber and bright lime zest. Underlying notes of tropical Motueka hops and a low, sweet grainy character from the maize and pilsner malt. Extremely clean fermentation profile without esters.
Taste. Initial light grainy malt and maize sweetness are rapidly overtaken by zesty lime and cooling cucumber. A crisp, lemon-lime spritz character merges with a firm, moderate hop bitterness. The finish is remarkably dry and snappy, with lingering notes of citrus and fresh botanicals in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that creates a prickly, refreshing sensation. Very clean and crisp with no alcohol warmth and a sharp, thirst-quenching finish.
