Equilibrium Brewery

This American Stout presents a decadent sensory profile inspired by childhood treats, pouring a viscous, pitch-black liquid with a dense tan head. The experience is defined by a massive addition of house-toasted slivered almonds and fragrant Madagascar Vanilla, creating an aroma reminiscent of a toasted almond ice cream bar. On the palate, the inclusion of lactose and marshmallows creates a velvety, full-bodied texture, while cake mix notes provide a rich, dessert-like character. While the sweet additions are prominent, the underlying roasted malt adds a necessary depth of dark chocolate, finishing with a luxurious and creamy lingering sweetness.

Appearance. Pitch black (40+ SRM) and completely opaque with a viscous, oily consistency. Pours with a persistent, thick, tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Pronounced aromas of toasted nuts and marzipan from the slivered almonds. Strong notes of Madagascar Vanilla and sugary marshmallow. The malt profile provides underlying moderate roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Hop aroma is very low. Clean fermentation with a noticeable but smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression is dessert-like and intensely sweet. Dominant flavors of toasted almond and vanilla cake mix lead into a creamy mid-palate of marshmallow and lactose. The malt contribution is moderate to high, offering bittersweet chocolate and dark roasted grains. Hop bitterness is moderate, providing necessary structure to balance the heavy adjuncts. The finish is long and velvety, tasting of almond-toffee and vanilla.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a creamy, coating texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable alcohol warmth is present but smooth and well-integrated. Low astringency despite the high roast and nut additions.
