This vibrant New Zealand IPA showcases a bold collision of southern hemisphere intensity and clean fermentation. The sensory experience is driven by the specific addition of Riwaka and Kohia Nelson hops, which unleash a torrent of pungent passionfruit, zesty grapefruit, and crushed white grape notes. A restrained, grainy malt backbone provides just enough structure to support the aggressive hop profile without distracting from the tropical brightness. It finishes crisp and decidedly bitter, echoing with lingering citrus oils. This collaboration captures an adventurous spirit, delivering a bright, aromatic punch that remains balanced and highly drinkable for its strength, perfectly embodying the American IPA style with a Kiwi twist.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold color with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and moderate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by pungent passionfruit and citrus from the Riwaka, complemented by white grape and gooseberry notes from the Kohia Nelson. A low, clean, crackery malt scent supports the hops, while the fermentation profile remains neutral with only a hint of tropical esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with high hop flavors of tropical fruit and grapefruit. A firm, medium-high bitterness provides a sharp counterpoint to a low, grainy malt sweetness. The finish is dry to medium-dry, leaving a clean, hoppy aftertaste of citrus zest and resin without any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a lively mouthfeel. Features a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
