The aroma is dominated by rich bakery notes from the addition of donuts, complemented by deep layers of bittersweet chocolate and toasted peanuts. On the palate, its immense density reveals a complex malt backbone of roasted grain and caramel, creating a harmonious blend of nutty sweetness and cocoa. Despite its 12.5% strength, the alcohol remains sophisticated and warming rather than hot, leading into a lingering, velvety finish that highlights its elegant, creamy construction and bold nutty character.
Appearance. Opaque jet black (40+ SRM) with a well-formed, persistent dark brown head. High viscosity is evident, displaying significant legs on the glass as it is swirled.
Aroma. High intensity featuring rich roasted malt notes of bittersweet chocolate and cocoa. Distinctive pastry-like sweetness and fried dough characters from the donut addition are prominent, joined by a nutty profile of peanuts and light toasted hazelnut. Fermentation is clean with very low esters and a smooth, integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely malty and sweet, transitioning into deep flavors of dark chocolate and roasted peanuts. The mid-palate reflects a 'pastry' character with doughy sweetness, supported by a moderate roasted bitterness that prevents it from being cloying. The finish is long and lingering with notes of cocoa and a sophisticated alcohol warmth that balances the heavy body.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious, and exceptionally creamy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated and never harsh.
