Enegren Brewing Company Nighthawk is a refined Schwarzbier that balances deep, dark malt complexity with the crisp, refreshing drinkability of a lager. Despite its midnight hue, the use of huskless dark roasted malts ensures a smooth experience free from burnt harshness. Appearance. Deep ruby to very dark brown (approx. 25-30 SRM). It displays brilliant clarity with garnet highlights when held to the light. Crowned by a large, persistent, tan-colored head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a clean, bready malt base layered with distinctive earthy dark roasted coffee notes. A low, floral and herbal hop presence provides balance. The fermentation character is very clean, typical of a well-lagered German beer, with no esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is of smooth, rich extra dark chocolate supported by a moderate bready malt sweetness.
