Gladiator is a decadent Doppelbock that channels the liquid bread tradition of Munich. This dark lager presents a deeply layered malt profile led by rich Munich and toasted bread notes, reminiscent of the style’s monastic origins. Significant Maillard products create a complex bouquet of dark fruit leather, plums, and a faint hint of chocolate, balanced by a clean fermentation character. Despite its 8.1% strength, the beer maintains a smooth, velvety texture with a gentle alcohol warmth that integrates seamlessly into the dense, malty core. Appearance. Copper to deep dark brown with brilliant clarity and visible ruby highlights. It features a large, creamy, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
