This Specialty IPA presents an adventurous profile where rustic rye grain meets assertive wood smoke. The rye malt contributes a signature spicy depth and a notably full body, providing a sturdy platform for high hop intensities. On the palate, vibrant layers of resinous pine and bright citrus clash harmoniously with savory campfire notes derived from the smoked malt. While the hop bitterness remains firm and characteristic of the style, the finish is complex, trailing with a lingering interplay of grainy spice and clean, dry smoke. It is a bold, well-integrated exploration of contrasting textures and pungent aromas.

Appearance. Dark mahogany to deep brown (25-35 SRM). Clear with a light, persistent tan head that leaves moderate lacing. A slight haze may be present due to the high protein content of the rye malt.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent notes of resinous pine, grapefruit, and citrus. This is layered over a distinct, clean wood smoke character. A background of spicy, peppery rye grain provides depth, supported by very light notes of toast. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a firm hop bitterness followed by a complex malt profile. Peppery rye flavor is prominent, melding with a savory, campfire-like smoke character. Hop flavors of orange zest and pine needles are high. The finish is dry to slightly off-dry, with a lingering, bitter aftertaste that carries a light, pleasant smoky huskiness without being ashy.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a characteristic silkiness and slight oiliness from the rye malt. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth, providing a well-rounded and substantial mouthfeel.
