Elusive Brewing

This West Coast Red IPA radiates with a harmonious blend of classic Pacific Northwest hops and rich specialty grains. Simcoe, Chinook, and Columbus hops lead the sensory experience, imparting a deeply resinous pine character layered over bright citrus undertones of grapefruit and pithy orange. A robust foundation of deep caramel malts provides a structural sweetness that rounds out the assertive, clean bitterness typical of the style. The result is a balanced, copper-hued ale where the forest-like hop intensity and toasted sugar notes of the malt coexist seamlessly, finishing with a lingering, crisp dryness that invites another sip.

Appearance. Deep amber to coppery-red (14–17 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Off-white to light tan head with moderate size, persistent retention, and fine lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring resinous pine, grapefruit, and a hint of black pepper from the Simcoe and Columbus hops. Supporting malt aroma of toasted bread and rich caramel. Clean fermentation profile with negligible esters.

Taste. Initial impression of toasted malt and caramel sweetness is quickly overtaken by medium-high hop bitterness. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with prominent resin and citrus pith. The bitterness is firm and clean, balancing the malt backbone without becoming harsh. The finish is dry to off-dry with a lingering resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth texture with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No perceived astringency from hops or specialty malts.
