This robust India Porter, a collaboration between Elusive Brewing and Only With Love, elevates the traditional English Porter framework to export strength. At 6% ABV, it presents a complex malt backbone characterized by deep roasted chocolate and nutty toffee. The India influence is immediate, departing from traditional earthy notes to deliver a vibrant hit of orange citrus and tropical fruits. The palate balances a firm bitterness against a creamy, medium body, blending the classic bready, biscuity malt profile with a modern hop intensity that lingers into a clean, roasty finish that is both refreshing and substantial.
Appearance. Dark brown in color with deep ruby highlights (28 SRM). It features a moderate, persistent light tan head with excellent lacing and good clarity despite its depth of color.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex interplay between roasted chocolate, toasty biscuit, and bright orange citrus. Tropical fruit notes of mango and passionfruit are prominent, supported by moderate fruity esters and a light caramel sweetness.
Taste. Initial impression is a balance of bittersweet chocolate and zesty orange. Moderate bready and toasty malt flavors lead into layers of nutty caramel and light coffee-like roast without burnt harshness. The hop character is assertive with tropical fruit and citrus zest. Firm bitterness provides structure, leading to a fairly dry finish with a lingering roasty aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a light creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its export strength, with no detectable astringency from the roasted malts.
