Metropole is a vibrant American Pale Ale that showcases the intense versatility of Citra hops through a modern West Coast lens. Utilizing four distinct Citra hop formats, the beer explodes with pungent layers of squeezed lime, bright grapefruit zest, and lush tropical notes of lychee and passionfruit. A clean, neutral malt foundation provides just enough structure to support the aggressive hopping without introducing distracting sweetness. The result is a highly aromatic and refreshing experience that emphasizes hop purity and a snappy, dry finish. It exemplifies the brewery’s house style by balancing high-impact fruit-forward aromatics with a drinkable, lean profile.
Appearance. Pale golden color (5-6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderately large, bright white head characterized by excellent retention and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma dominated by Citra, presenting as fresh grapefruit, lime zest, and tropical passionfruit. Supported by a low, neutral grainy malt character with a very clean fermentation profile and no noticeable esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and tropical fruit. Prominent Citra flavors of grapefruit pith and melon are supported by a light, bready malt backbone. Bitterness is moderate to firm but remains clean, balancing the hop-saturated palate. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering citrus zest aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate-high carbonation that enhances the crispness. Smooth finish with no alcohol warmth and zero astringency despite the high hop load.
