Optimized Synergy is a vibrant collaboration that exemplifies the classic West Coast American IPA. A bold aromatic profile leads with intense notes of resinous pine and bright citrus zest, underpinned by subtle tropical fruit layers. The lean malt bill provides a crisp, crackery foundation, allowing the hops to dominate from the first sip through a sharply bitter, refreshing finish. This 7% ABV banger displays the precision and "core competence" expected from El Segundo and Societe, delivering a clean fermentation profile and a snappy, dry mouthfeel that moves the needle for fans of assertive, hop-forward ales.
Appearance. Medium gold with brilliant clarity. Topped by a persistent, medium-sized white head that leaves attractive lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and light tropical notes of mango. A low, clean, grainy malt sweetness provides a neutral backdrop, with a very clean fermentation profile and no noticeable alcohol.
Taste. Assertive hop flavors of grapefruit, resin, and pine dominate the palate. The malt is supportive but restrained, offering a crackery, clean graininess. Bitterness is firm and high, balancing a dry to medium-dry finish that leaves a crisp, lingering hoppy aftertaste.
