Effet Papillon

Voulez-Vous presents as a quintessential Hazy IPA, led by a vibrant interplay of Mosaic and Ekuanot hops. The aroma is an explosion of tropical mango, pithy grapefruit, and subtle papaya, supported by the fruity esters of the London Fog yeast strain. A base of Pilsen and Carapils malts provides a clean, bready foundation, while a significant addition of Avoine ensures a luxurious, pillowy texture. This golden, opaque pour balances a soft, restrained bitterness with a juicy, fruit-forward profile that lingers on the palate. It is a harmonious expression of modern hopping techniques, delivering a refreshing yet complex sensory experience.

Appearance. Pale straw to golden-orange with a distinctive opaque, luminous haze. Topped by a dense, rocky, white meringue-like head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity of tropical and citrus fruits. Mosaic provides notes of mango, blueberry, and tangerine, while Ekuanot adds layers of lime zest and melon. A subtle bready, grainy malt backbone from the Pilsen and Avoine is present. Esters are noticeably fruity, reminiscent of peaches and apricots, seamlessly integrating with the massive hop presence. No caramel or toast.

Taste. Dominant hop flavors of ripe papaya, grapefruit, and stone fruit. The malt character is lightly bready and soft, providing a supportive platform for the hops. Bitterness is restrained and smooth, never harsh. The London Fog yeast contributes a medium ester profile that enhances the juicy sensation. The finish is clean and off-dry, with a lingering fruitiness that invites another sip.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, pillowy mouthfeel attributed to the flaked oats. Carbonation is moderate and fine. No alcoholic warmth or harsh astringency is present, resulting in a smooth, creamy texture that lacks any raw starchiness.
