Skull Cap is an intensely aromatic Double IPA born from a collaboration between Edge Brewing and Boneyard Beer, celebrating a shared obsession with hops. This 8% ABV powerhouse leads with a punchy bouquet of resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and tropical mango, driven by a massive lupulin-forward hop charge. The palate is defined by a firm, assertive bitterness that cuts through a lean, neutral malt backbone, ensuring the hops remain the focus from start to finish. It finishes crisp and dry with a lingering citrus rind character and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth that underscores its formidable strength.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant gold to light orange-copper with excellent clarity. A moderate, persistent white head sits atop, leaving dense lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of resinous pine, pungent grapefruit, and ripe passion fruit. A very low, clean, cracker-like malt presence provides a neutral canvas, accompanied by a faint, smooth ethanol note and minimal esters.
Taste. Bold hop flavors of citrus peel, pine needles, and tropical stone fruit dominate the initial impression. Bitterness is high and assertive but remains clean and free of harshness. A supportive, light grainy malt character carries the hops through to a bone-dry finish with a long-lasting, resinous aftertaste.
