This collaboration between Ebeltoft and Mikkeller presents a luxurious sensory experience, blending a robust Imperial Stout with a vintage English Barley Wine. The six-month maturation in Stauning Whisky barrels introduces refined oak and spirit complexity to the deep, roasted base. Expect a rich tapestry of bittersweet chocolate, dark cocoa, and espresso, softened by the English Barley Wine contribution of toffee, dark raisins, and figs. The Stauning Whisky influence provides a gentle warmth and a hint of vanilla, balancing the aggressive roast with a velvety, malt-forward sweetness. It is a sophisticated, full-bodied expression where charred grain meets refined spirit.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a dense, dark brown head with moderate retention. High viscosity is evident by the slow-moving legs on the glass.

Aroma. Intense and complex; rich notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice meld with the dried fruit esters of plum and raisin. The barrel aging contributes distinct aromas of vanilla, toasted oak, and a clear Stauning Whisky spirit character, while the Barley Wine blend adds a deep caramel and toffee sweetness.

Taste. A powerful initial impression of bittersweet cocoa and roasted grain. The mid-palate reveals layers of toffee, burnt sugar, and dried figs from the vintage English Barley Wine component. Hop bitterness is firm but well-integrated against the massive malt backbone.
