Eastside Brewing’s Roma Amor presents a vibrant, lower-gravity interpretation of a Belgian Blond Ale, enriched by a rustic grain bill featuring rye. This addition imparts a characteristic spicy snap and grainy depth that complements the Belgian yeast's subtle peppery phenols. The hop profile is prominently featured through kettle and dry-hop additions of Saaz and Citra, resulting in a complex bouquet where traditional herbal earthiness meets modern notes of grapefruit and lime. The palate is clean and crisp, balancing moderate bitterness with a soft malt backbone, finishing dry with a refreshing citrus-tinged linger and a lively carbonation typical of the style.

Appearance. Deep yellow to light gold (approx. 5 SRM). Slight haze from the rye and dry-hopping. Large, dense, creamy white head with excellent retention and delicate Belgian lacing.

Aroma. Moderate intensity with a grainy-sweet malt base and a noticeable bready, spicy rye quality. The hop character is multifaceted, showcasing herbal and earthy Saaz notes alongside bright, citrusy, and tropical Citra aromatics. Yeast-derived esters suggest lemon and orange peel with a faint peppery phenolic background.

Taste. Initial grainy malt sweetness is quickly followed by the spicy, slightly sharp bite of rye. Hop flavors of grapefruit and melon from the Citra mingle with the spicy, floral Saaz character. Yeast phenols are restrained and peppery, while esters remain citrus-focused. Medium-low bitterness provides balance. The finish is dry, crisp, and clean with a lingering herbal and citrus aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that creates a bubbly, mouth-filling sensation. The rye contributes a subtle creamy texture and a faint, pleasant graininess. Negligible alcohol warmth due to the 4.5% ABV.
