By omitting the secondary fermentation, it reveals a streamlined sensory profile defined by high clarity and a brilliant pale gold hue. The aroma is characterized by delicate pome fruit esters, specifically ripe pear, layered over a subtle, grainy-sweet Pilsner malt base. Herbal and floral hop notes provide a gentle counterpoint, leading into a flavor profile that is strikingly dry and effervescent. This draught version emphasizes drinkability and a refined, clean finish, while maintaining the characteristic peppery snap and fruity bite that defines the Moortgat lineage.
Appearance. Pale gold (3-4 SRM) with brilliant clarity resulting from cold filtration. It supports a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lacing as it slowly recedes.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a complex bouquet of pome fruit, notably pear and apple. The malt character is nearly neutral with a light grainy-sweetness. Low to moderate herbal and floral hop notes are present, complemented by a subtle peppery phenol and soft, perfumy alcohol.
Taste. Crisp and highly attenuated with an initial impression of soft Pilsner malt. Flavors of pear-like esters and peppery alcohol carry through the palate. Medium-high bitterness and herbal hop flavors balance the light malt, leading to a long, very dry finish and a clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with an effervescent, sparkling quality due to high carbonation. Despite its strength, it feels light on the palate with a smooth, subtle alcohol warmth and no astringency.
